In January of this year, Rep. Riggleman published his “Pledge to the 5th District” in which he promised to hold town hall meetings once he was “settled in." During his time in office, he has spent a week on the US-Mexico border, a week in Israel, and plenty of time drinking wine with wealthy donors. But he has not announced plans to hold a town hall.
Fast forward to his July 26th newsletter when Congressman Riggleman said, “I'm excited to visit with constituents over the month of August.” August is nearly over, and Riggleman has yet to announce where or when he will be available to meet with constituents during the Congressional district work period.
Therefore, we are declaring Monday, August 26th “Constituent Day” at Congressman Riggleman’s Charlottesville office. You are invited to visit Congressman Riggleman’s Charlottesville office at your convenience between the hours of 9:00am and 4:30pm to express your concerns in person. Riggleman may or may not be there. Sign the visitor’s log, fill out a comment sheet (ask when Rep. Riggleman is planning to hold a town hall as promised!) and have a polite conversation with the office staff. Bring a few friends along with letters concerning issues that are important to you. Here are some key votes that he has taken this year:
Although in-person visits are the most effective, if you cannot visit on the 26th please call the office instead at (434) 973-9631 and leave a statement about the issue that concerns you most today.
After your office visit or phone call, please report your interaction here. This will allow us to track how many people contacted the office and to follow up later on whether you received any response.
